Twisted Root Burger Co ~ Dallas TX

Burgers, Southwest By November 2, 2018 Tags: , , , No Comments

The Vitals:
the spot: Twisted Root Burger Co multiple locations in TX, plus Louisiana(2) and Alabama(1)
the eats: Burger with swiss, garlic mushrooms and sautéed onions
the bucks: $8.48
the full nelson: a build your own burger joint built on an affordable 1/2lb patty

Many moons ago, 6 years to be exact, my inaugural post for Bang for your Burger Buck forewarned of the dangers of the build your own burger menu. Where an excess of toppings could lead to the sort of needless upgrades one finds when buying a Prius and walking out with a Satellite Navigation System. Twisted Root Burger Co certainly can fall into this category but with an affordable base price of $6 bucks for a 1/2 pound burger and some Umami worthy topping moves, one can find some solid Bang for your Burger Buck.

Cheap Eats San Antonio

Cheap Eats, Southwest By September 24, 2018 Tags: , , , , , , , No Comments

I gotta say doing Cheap Eats San Antonio was almost a selfish move. Being a resident of Austin, which is only a couple hours away by car(if the traffic Gods smile down favorably of course), I consider San Antonio to be my first choice for a weekend getaway not by plane. Being closer to the border means the Mexican food gets a little more authentic and all in all, San Antonio is cheaper than Austin. But that doesn’t mean your $35 will stretch through the day all by itself; you’re gonna wanna do some homework. Or you could just read on for one more taste of Cheap Eats San Antonio!

Not that Cheap Eats Dallas woudn’t be one heck of an episode working off a day’s worth of barbecue and Tex Mex, it’s just that you would be missing out on hip neighborhoods serving seriously trending eats and some of the most authentic Chinese noodles I have ever had. Yep, the Big D is more than just some Texas sized clichés on a plate, so let’s take one more big bite into Cheap Eats Dallas!
