ACL Eats: a taco throwdown at the Austin City Limits Music Festival

Austin, Tacos/ Mexican By October 14, 2019 Tags: , , , No Comments

ACL Eats is as a big draw as the music is for the Austin City Limits Music Festival. My last post was all about burgers and this one  . . . is all about the tacos. Now Austin has a rep for “keeping it weird” and some of the more noteworthy do just that. Torchy’s Tacos rethinks comfort food in a tortilla, East Side King brings you Asian street food in a tortilla and Taco Deli slings it farm to table via a tortilla.

Still, out of 5 taco offerings at ACL Eats, only one is straight up street tacos. A bit surprising, even for unconventional Austin. So which taco took the cake? Read on and find out!

ACL Eats: Burger Battle Royale at the Austin City Limits Music Festival

Austin, Burgers By October 6, 2019 Tags: , , , No Comments

The Austin City Limits Music Festival, or just ACL, because that’s just a whole lot easier to say, is just about fav thing to do in Austin. Wandering around the gorgeous grounds of Zilker Park with Austin’s downtown skyline in the background, beers in hand and amazing music at every corner, makes me feel like its Christmas Morning – my wife calls ACL “Christmas for adults”. As if that wasn’t enough of a reason to go, there is also the draw of ACL Eats: a diverse lineup of Austin’s food scene that makes for just about the best food court you can go to unless you are somewhere in Asia.

Last year I posted a day by day play by play of my adventures eating at ACL. This year, thanks to Sandee Fenton from ACL’s media team, I received a media pass and went in deep on a mission to taste the competition by categories. If you haven’t figured it out by now, this post is all about finding the best burger at ACL Eats. Yeah, a full on burger battle royale and the winner is . . .  well, you’re gonna have to get through this post to find out!

ACL Eats: Austin City Limits Music Festival Day 3

Austin, Barbecue, Tacos/ Mexican By October 10, 2018 Tags: , , , , No Comments

Day 3 of Austin City Limits Music Festival would be the grand finale of my ACL Eats Fest, and I think I went out with a bang. Micklethwait Craft Meats is not only my favorite vendor amongst the food court here but also ranks up there with the top three best barbecue joints I have ever been too. But don’t sleep on Tamale Addiction, which ended up being the biggest surprise ACL Eat of the festival. Which one will be my ACL Eat of the day? Well there is one way to find out!

ACL Eats: Austin City Limits Music Festival 2018 Day 2

Asian, Austin, Sandwiches By October 8, 2018 Tags: , , , , No Comments

And then there was Day 2 of the Austin City Limits Music Festival, which meant a fresh round of ACL Eats. I gotta say going hitting up all three days of an ACL weekend is a strong move, where pace and eyeing the right mix of food vendors is key. Chilantro and Noble Sandwich Co(aka Noble Pig) are both popular Austin staples that have gotten national attention in print media and food television. You really can’t go wrong visiting either of these spots but which spot and which dish became my ACL Eat of the day? Let’s find out!!

ACL Eats: Austin City Limits Music Festival 2018 Day 1

Austin, Barbecue, Burgers By October 6, 2018 Tags: , , , , , No Comments

Austin City Limits Music Festival is my favorite thing to do in Austin and the ACL Eats are a big reason why. Concerts, much like airports, have been a tough place for foodies. For years we have been at the mercy of the lame food court Gods . . . well no longer. Airports are stepping up their game and in the three years that I have attended ACL Fest, the food game is strong. That being said some spots are better than others so read on and refresh your browsers because I’ll be posting on new places for each of the three days I will be attending. And without further ado: Day 1 of ACL Eats at Austin City Limits Music Festival 2018.
